The talks surrounding a merger between the two major education centres have suffered a break down. The initial merger was planned to take place as close a September 2010, however the colleges clashed over the further education program – it now appears the College of Music will instead pursue a merger with the University of Bradford. It believes this will provide the best opportunities for the 1,500 part time and 1,000 full time students currently in attendance.

Monday, October 12th, 2009The Minister for Justice, Dermot Ahern, plans to tighten the amount of control regarding the length of time a student from outside of Europe is allowed to remain in Ireland. The move comes after it was revealed recently that many students come to Ireland under the guise of studying the English language while actively seeking and participating in full time employment.
